SP lambasts Mayawati govt over Gorakhpur blasts

Gorakhpur, May 24: Senior Samajwadi Party leader and MP Mohan Singh today alleged the Gorakhpur serial blasts had exposed the promises of Chief Minister Mayawati to provide a crime-free regime.

''As a cover-up measure, she is now trying to give political colour to the incident. This will only encourage anti-social elements,'' Mr Singh told mediapersons here.

Inveighing against Mayawati, he said her transfer policy was the reason behind the blast as officials had gone astray from their prime duty of maintaining law and order.

''The absence of union Home Minister Shivraj Patil and other central ministers at the blast site is unfortunate.'' Expressing concern over security arragements in UP, he claimed terrorist activities were on the rise along the Indo-Nepal international border, which posed serious threat to the country.

''The recent blast is a pointer towards something grave, which should be taken note of immediately, he claimed.
