Somaiya alleges lethargy in Mithi cleansing project
Mumbai, May 24 (UNI) Former BJP MP Kirit Somaiya has alleged that the Mithi River Authority has completed hardly five per cent work of cleansing the river under the second phase.
Talking to reporters here today, Mr Somaiya said that against the contracted work of removing and transporting 26,09,000 cubic meters of silt, only 206,700 cubic meters of silt have so far been removed.
He said that claims made by the Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority regarding removal of illegal structures around the river, were a mere eyewash. Not a single illegal structure has been touched so far.
