Road construction top priority: Chief Minister
Hyderabad, May 24 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today announced that along with irrigation, roads and maintenance and construction would be taken up on top priority and all roads planned would be completed on schedule.
He assured the Roads and Buildings Department that he would take steps to facilitate necessary funds to clear all the proposed road works in the state, and said the finance department would be directed to help expedite the road works and proposals.
Mr Reddy reviewed the progress of road works in the state and also directed the department to take up all proposed road works on war-footing and complete it on schedule.
He said the budget allocations have been increased by 83% from Rs 1349.98 crores in 2005-06 to Rs 2162 crores this year.
The Chief Minister said all the road works being taken up should be completed by December, 2008, and he directed the department to implement third party quality check on road works.
