Guwahati, May 24 (UNI) The rail and road links in western Asom, which were blocked by ex-Bodo Liberation Tigers (BLT) activists, were restored this evening after the security forces forced the agitationists to disperse.

The Ex-BLT cadres had launched a 100-hour road-cum-rail blockade in western Asom today to protest the killings and attacks by the rebels of Nationalist Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB).

As many as 16 long distance trains controlled at various stations since morning resumed journey after 1600 hours, a Northeast Frontier Railway spokesperson said.

More than 3500 trucks, which were stranded at Sri Rampur at the gateway of Asom and as many trucks in Guwahati, also started plying.

Earlier, the Ex-BLT cadres under the banner of Ex-BLT Welfare Society, staged a protest at Dispur, demanding the ceasefire agreement with the NDFB be quashed.

They alleged the outfit was re-grouping and carrying out extortion and subversive activities taking advantage of the ceasefire.
