Srinagar, May 24 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government will soon formulate a comprehensive traffic regulation policy in the state which would meet the requirements of the people to a large extent.

State Transport Minister Hakim Mohammad Yaseen stated this at a high-level meeting here last evening.

He said diploma holders from the State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) would be deployed in the the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) to curb the menace of overloading and ensure smooth regulation of traffic system.

Hakim Yaseen said the state government was determined to strengthening the transport industry in the state.

The Minister said due to the efforts of the state government, the SRTC has been able to earn a revenue of Rs 72 crore during the last financial year.

He asked the authorities concerned to take effective measures for regulation of the traffic system in Srinagar to avoid frequent traffic snarls which cause huge problems to the general public.
