Former executive engineer chargesheeted in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 24 (UNI) An anti-corruption court here chargesheeted a former executive engineer in a disproportionate assets case here today.

The Special Judge Anti Corruption Kashmir, Srinagar, chargesheeted Mohammad Ramzan Nadaf in the corruption case.

On July 9, 2005, the vigilance organisation registered a case and started investigations on the possession of movable and immovable properties, disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The engineer was found to be in possession of Rs 1,39,91,629 besides an interest of Rs 6,72,918.

The next date of hearing has been fixed on June 20.

Meanwhile, the vigilance organisation also filed a chargesheet against forest officials.

The chargesheet was filed in the court of Special Judge Anti Corruption, Kashmir against Firdous Ahmed Bhat, then junior assistant, and Azmat Ali Qureshi, then helper (both posted in the Divisional Forest Office Pirpanchal, Badgam).

The accused were caught red-handed while accepting a bribe from a complainant, Mohammad Ibrahim Bhat, for issuance of a no objection certificate pertaining to the installation of wooden joinery planner in his favour.
