FKCCI opposes Postal Amendment Bill
Bangalore, May 24: Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) has opposed the proposed Indian Post Office Amendment Bill which it said was a serious attack on the Courier industry, providing employment to a large number of people.
FKCCI President R C Purohit in a release here said the weight and rate concept proposed by the Department of Posts would create a monopoly situation for the Department. As customers were adequately protected through Consumer Protection Act, a regulator for this industry was not called for, he said in a statement issued here today.
''The FDI restriction in the Courier industry should be re-looked keeping the interest of the Indian Companies and the proposed Service Obligation Fee should be dropped,''he added.
