Fire in slum, 70 huts gutted

Bulandshahr, May 24 (UNI) Around 70 huts were reduced to ashes in a raging inferno, which engulfed the Kotwali area here this afternoon.

The incident occurred at a slum area near Pradarshni Maidan, where one of the huts first caught fire and spread to the other huts police said.

The situation was controlled only after the fire-fighters extinguished the rising flames.

No loss of life has been reported.

The slum is inhabited mostly by rickshaw-pullers from Bihar and Jharkhand.
