Fire at power loom unit

Tirupur, May 24 (UNI) Power looms and clothes worth Rs 12 lakh got charred when lightning struck a powerloom unit at Kalipalayam near Somanur here last night.

The owner of the unit Ponnusamy told UNI that due to power failure, they had stopped running machines in the evening.

Following heavy rain, lightning struck the unit and the materials caught fire. Out of 28 machines in the unit, six were completely burnt and ten others were partially burnt, he added.

UNI
