Crude bomb found in school campus
Jamshedpur, May 23 (UNI) A police team of the special branch today searched a school campus here with metal detectors following the recovery of a plasic container suspected to be a crude bomb.
Police said the round container was found by children playing cricket in the school campus in the Sakchi police station area yesterday. They handed over the container, wrapped in a polythene bag,to a nearby shopkeeper,who poured water in it after seeing some powder like substance inside.
Police came to know about it late in the evening and seized the container.
East Singhbhum Superintendent of Police Pankaj Darad and other senior police officials visited the spot where the object was found.
A police team, led by deputy superintendent of police Madhusudan Bari, the officer-in charge of Sakchi and Bistupur police station, conducted the search operation this morning in the Rajendra Vidyalaya school. But nothing was recovered,police added.
Police said a sample of the powder found inside the ball had been sent for further investigation. But preliminary reports said the powder might be some sort of explosive material.
Police forces had been deployed in the school campus following the incident.
