AP: CPI-M intensifies land grabbing movement

Kadapa (Andhra Pradesh), May 24: The CPI(M), which has been occupying government lands to press its demand that all poor people in Andhra Pradesh should be provided decent dwellings, adopted a new method in this native district of Chief Minister yesterday.

In Kadapa town braving heavy rain, party workers and the home-less poor occupied government land near the Rajiv Gruhakalpa Housing Complex past last midnight and erected huts.

CPI(M) leaders alleged that the police, who remained silent spectators when influenced people encroached government properties worth crores of rupees, were registering non-bailable cases against the poor.

Yesterday when CPI(M) called an all-party meeting on the land grabbing movement in Hyderabad TDP, TRS and other opposition parties expressed their support.
