Counselling fees for engineering admission waived

Chennai, May 24 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister K Ponmudi today announced that the counselling fee for engineering admission has been waived for the benefit of students.

Speaking to Medipersons here, he said the government had earlier announced slashing of counselling fees from Rs 300 to Rs 200.

''Now, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, considering the plight of students coming from far off places for counselling in Chennai, has waived the fee fully,'' he added.

He said the students could also avail 50 per cent concession in fares while travelling in government transport corporation buses to attend the counselling. Parents accompanying the students would also be eligible for the concession.

Mr Ponmudi said the government was considering taking legal action against those misleading the students by issuing analysis statements.
