CM appeals to CPI, CPI(M) to stop agitation

Hyderabad, May 24 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today urged leaders of the CPI and CPI(M) to stop their agitation for free house and house sites for the poor.

Addressing a meeting with the CPI, CPI(M) and Congress leaders at the Secretariat here, he said the government had initiated a programme to provide free house sites to the poor.

He urged the political parties to point out any lapses in the government programmes, especially in the housing schemes.

He said in the case of assigned lands, the government was acting on a mission mode.

Under Indiramma Phase-I programme 3,31,091 house sites were acquired during 2006-2007 as against the requirement of 3,76,327 in rural areas, Dr Reddy added.
