Cabinet approves additional grant for J
New Delhi, May 24 (UNI) The union cabinet today approved a Rs 635.88 crore Jammu and Kashmir Reconstruction Plan to be implemented over two years in the wake of October 2005 earthquake.
Minister for information and broadcasting P R Dasmunsi said the plan will be implemented in 2006-07 and 07-08. This will enable the state to undertake long-term reconstruction of the damaged infrastructure including housing.
The additional central assistance has a grant component of Rs 572.29 crore and loan component of Rs 63.59 crore.
The centre had earlier granted the state Rs 150 crore for 06-07 and Rs 146.58 crore for 07-08, totalling a net grant of Rs 296.58 crore.
