BJP submits memorandum to Election Commission
Panaji, May 24 (UNI) Goa BJP today submitted a memorandum to the chief election officer urging the latter to initiate appropriate measures to ensure free and fair elections.
State BJP chief Shripad Naik, while speaking to reporters here today, said the party is afraid that anti-social elements, patronised by 'certain political parties', may step up their activities between May 30 and June 2.
These elements may try to intimidate voters, distribute liquor, money and other gift items in order to influence them, Mr Naik said.
The BJP has also demanded that the state borders with Maharastra and Karnataka be sealed to prevent transfer of liquor stocks.
