Shimla, May 24 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today criticised the BJP for being a corrupt party, saying that corruption was at its peak during the BJP regime in the state.

Addressing election meetings at Sai and Dugli in Hamirpur district, he asked former Chief Minister P K Dhumal to list out his government's outstanding works during its five-year term.

Referring to the conviction of the former Chairman of the Subordinate Services Selection Board at Hamirpur, he said it was a den of corruption during the BJP regime and jobs were distributed among the favourities of the government.

Mr Singh said Hamirpur bye-election was the result of corrupt activities of the BJP MP Suresh Chandel who was caught following a sting operation by a private TV channel in the infamous ''cash for query'' scam.

He said only Congress could provide a stable and an efficient government since the BJP has emerged as a corrupt party.

The Chief Minister called upon the party workers to take the government's policies and progammes to the people.
