APCC to revoke suspension of MLAs
Hyderabad, May 24 (UNI) The Disciplinary Committee of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), headed by MLC Singam Basava Punnaiah, today recommended revocation of the suspension of three MLAs for acting against the interests of the party during the recent Legislative Council elections.
The MLAs, who were also served with show cause notices, in their replies contended that they had not resorted to anti-party activities and urged the party to revoke the suspensions. Their suspensions had been sent to the disciplinary committee.
Talking to newspersons at the Gandhi Bhavan, the party headquarters here, Mr Punnaiah said after careful examination of the party's charges, the explanations given by the suspended MLAs -- Adala Prabhakara Reddy, Mekapati Chandrasekhara Reddy and Naresh Agarwal -- and after due inquiries, the Disciplinary Committee had come to the conclusion that they had not resorted to anti-party activities.
The Disciplinary Committee, however, justified the suspension of Duvvuri Srinivas, Vice-Chairman of the Srikakulam Zilla Parishad, alleging there was clear evidence that he had indulged in anti-party activities.
