Angry students lynch ULFA rebel

Guwahati, May 24 (UNI) An ULFA militant was lynched by enraged students and villagers at Pengeri area in Upper Asom today for killing a school teacher.

Police informed that two ULFA militants came on foot to Kailashpur High School in Pengeri at around 1000 hrs today and sent two of unsuspecting students for a teacher of the school, Rohini Gogoi.

As the teacher came out to meet his 'visitors', the ULFA ultras waiting at the gate pumped bullets into his body from close range killing him on the spot. The incident evoked prompt and angry reaction from students who were about to enter their classes after the morning prayer session.

A large number of senior students then went after the assailants who were trying to flee after committing the crime. The angry students along with villagers caught up the fleeing ultras after chasing them for over a kilometer.

One of the militants, Budha Dhadumia, was lynched by students and villagers armed with bows and arrows while the other militant managed to give a slip. A pistol and 23 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the ultra.

The killed teacher, aged 35 years, hails from a nearby village and is survived by his wife and a five-year-old daughter.
