12 traders challaned under Weights and Measures (Enf) Act

Chandigarh, May 24 (UNI) As many as 12 traders were challaned for violating various sections of the Weights and Measures (Enf) Act in the city.

Offiocial sources said they were challaned for unstamped and unverified weights, measures, weighing and measuring instruments etc. About Rs One lakh is expected to be collected by way of compounding fee from the defaulters.

About 40 establishments were checked in the Grain Market, Sector 26, during a special drive launched by the Department of Legal Metrology (Weights and Measures).
