New Delhi, May 23: The Railway Ministry today announced revised schedule for the days of run of 4002 Attari Special and 4608 Samjhauta Express, linking Attari with Lahore, with effect from May 31.

Accordingly, the 4608 Lahore-Attari Samjhauta Express and the 4002 Attari-Delhi special trun will run on every Tuesday and Friday instead of Monday and Thursday, respectively.

The 4004 Delhi-Attari Special and 4607 Attari-Lahore Samjhauta Express will continue to run on Sunday and Wednesday and Monday and Thursday, respectively.

The Ministry, however, said there would be no change in the timings of the Samjhauta and Attari Special trains.

It said the 4001/4002 Delhi-Attari Link Special train had been augmented by one AC 3-tier coach with immediate effect on both directions on an experimental basis for six months.

The Samjhauta Express is one of two train services connecting India and Pakistan, the other being Thar Express linking Munabao in Rajasthan to Khokrapar in Sindh. After a two-year gap, it was reopened in 2004 as part of the peace process between the two countries.

In February, more than 60 people were killed when bombs exploded in the Samjhauta Express at Deewana stations near Panipat in Haryana.

Undaunted by the attack, India and Pakistan recently agreed to extend the run of this train for another three years, till 2010. The running of Thar Express has also been extended by three years.
