Rs 40 cr package for lion conservation in Gujarat

Gandhinagar, May 23 (UNI) The Gujarat government has allotted a special package of Rs 40 crore for the protection of Asiatic lions.

State Forest Minister Mangubhai Patel while informing this, said Chief Minister Narendra Modi is committed to the conservation of Asiatic lions.

Following the recent poaching of lions in the state, the government has set up a special task force, he said.

Mr Patel claimed that the Government's conversation efforts have yeilded fruits and the number of lions has increased to 359.
