RIL bags prestegious TERI award

Mumbai, May 23 (UNI) Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) today bagged 'The Energy and Resource Institute (TERI)' Corporate Award as a recognition to its efforts to combat HIV/AIDS.

RIL was selected for the award from a group of Corporate Category III companies (companies with annual turnover above Rs 500 Cr) through a nation-wide selection process conducted by a eleven member jury panel chaired by former Chief Justice J S Verma.

The award was presented by Finance Minister P Chidambaram today at a function held in Delhi, a release here said.

RILs efforts to tackle AIDS, which comprise prevention programmes in its workplace, community and supply chain covers awareness generation, prevention, treatment, care and support for the affected and has been carried out drawing support from the Dirubhai Ambani foundation, the release added.

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is India's largest private sector company with turnover of Rs 1,10,886 crore and net worth of Rs 57,147 crore.

The company had featured in the Fortune Global 500 list of world's largest corporations since year 2004.
