Rain fails to bring down temperature, heat conditions prevail
Kolkata, May 23 (UNI) Partly cloudy sky in the morning followed by sunny weather later in the day kept the mercury rising.
Brief spells of rain failed to bring down the temperature.
Sweltering weather conditions continued to prevail in the state with maximum temperature recorded at 33.7 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature was at 22.8 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal.
Met office recorded 5.6 mm rainfall in the city.
The maximum relative humidity was at 96 per cent and the minimum at 63 per cent.
Met officials predict partly cloudy sky with possibility of rain or thundery development around midnight.
The maximum temperature for the next 24-hours will be around 35 degrees Celsius.
