'Maha dharna' for house sites begins
Tirupati, May 23 (UNI) Demanding distribution of house sites for poor families, the Left parties and their frontal organisations, the TDP and others launched a 48-hour 'maha dharna' before the Revenue Divisional Office (RDO) here today.
As many 3,000 persons including various party activists and poor families led by CPI (M) State Leader Punyawathi took out a massive rally to the RDO office where they began the dharna.
They demanded the release of party activists and the poor arrested during the 'bhooporatam' programme undertaken in Tirupati and surroundings areas.
Police have made heavy bandobust arrangements at the RDO office as a precautionary measure.
