Introduce e-tender system in PWD: PMC

Puducherry, May 23 (UNI) The Puducherry Munnetra Congress (PMC) today urged the administration to introduce e-tender system in the Public Works Department here.

Talking to newspersons party spokesman K Lakshminarayanan MLA said he had enlisted several irregularties in the PWD in the territorial Assembly, and alleged that for every work 20 to 40 per cent above rate was being quoted as estimation. This was being done after forming a syndicate by the government, contractors and PWD engineers, he added.

Pointing out the practice in the excise and local administration departments, he said during the last Assembly session the Chief Minister had assured to introduce e-tender system here.

However, it was yet to be introduced, he said, and added that at the secretary level it was already decided and the government had taken a decision not to introduce the method for works below Rs two crore.

Mr Lakshminarayanan demanded that the system be introduced forthwith or the chief Minister should take the responsibility for wasting government money.
