Husband among four arrested for dowry-related murder

Guwahati, May 23 (UNI) Police today arrested four people of a family in connection with the murder of married woman.

Official sources said 26-year-old Parbati Shah of Hijuguri in Tinsukia district was charred to death on May 20 last and secretly buried at a public crematorium in Dibrugarh the next day.

After the incident came to light today, Parbati's husband, his two sisters and brother-in-law were arrested, while the husband's parents were said to be absconding.

Police said the victim was often tortured for dowry.

A resident of Dhola, she is also a mother of a one-and-half-year -old girl child, currently at her maternal home.
