HCL to set up 100 Career Dvpt Centres in India

Bhubaneswar, May 23: HCL Infosystems Ltd today announced to establish 100 HCL Career Development Centres across the country to fill the severe dearth of skilled IT engineers.

Speaking at the launch of the HCL CDC Bhubaneswar Centre here, HCL Infosystem Ltd Vice-President Ranjendra Kumar said while there will be an estimated annual demand of two lakh networking professional, the supply would only cater to 60 per cent of the demand.

He said that since the deficit of the IT professionals would further grow at a Compounded Annual Growth Rate(CAGR) of 28 per cent till 2010, the HCL Infosystem had taken the latest initiative to create highly skilled IT professionals to meet the increasing demand.

Mr Kumar said the HCL CDS would provide specially designed courses in high-end software, hardware and networking integration to groom students into industry-ready professionals.

Inaugurating the HCL CDC, state Information and Technology Minister S N Patra said the country would require nearly two to three million IT professionals in the next three years both in the software and BPO sectors.

He said Orissa, which occupied the fifth position in the country in the export of softwares, planned to set up 5,000 IT kiosks under the Public Private Partnership(PPP) mode and set up Rural Knowledge Information Centre in every village in the state.

Mr Patra said with the all major IT companies establishing their development centres, Orissa would produce nearly 15,000 young trained IT professional in the next three years.

''Keeping in view the interest shown by various IT companies to have their centre in Orissa, the state government has decided to set up a second Info City on the outskirt of the capital city spread over an area of 670 acres'' he added.

HCL CDC Career Development Centre Head STM Eswar said ''our mission would be to transform students into industry-ready professionals, who would be able to take on enterprise wide IT deployment and integration assignments.

He further said the HCL would offer a three months and a full time one-year course titled HCL Certified Network Engineers(HCNE) and announced that three more CDC would soon be set up in Orissa, one each in Berhampur, Rourkela and Balasore.

Orissa Information Technology Director Vishal Dev export of software from Orissa had registered a 58 per cent growth as against national average growth of 28 per cent.

He hoped that the export in IT sector from Orissa which stood at Rs 732 crores this year would touch Rs 4,500 crores by the end of 2012.
