Dacoity in jewellery shops

Raisen, MP, May 23 (UNI) In a daring robbery, about 12 armed bandits looted cash and jewellery worth several lakhs from three prominent jewellery shops in Mandideep area of this district this evening, police said.

On receiving information, vigilance was intensified along the boundary areas of the district.

Meanwhile, businessmen have gheraoed police station in protest of the incident.

Superintendent of Police K C Jain said the exact amount of robbery had not yet been ascertained.

He admitted that the bandits opened fire in air but no report of someone being injured had been received.

As the Mandideep area in Raisen district is 35 km from the state capital, strict vigilance was being maintained on its boundaries.
