Communalism continues to pose danger: PM
New Delhi, May 23 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said the forces of communalism, religious extremism and bigotry posed grave danger to the country's unity and integrity.
''Those who promote divisive agendas of communalism and casteism threaten to disrupt the unity and integrity of our country,'' he said while speaking at a function organised by the Union Home Ministry to present the 2006 ''Kabir Puraskar'' and Communal Harmony awards.
Dr Singh said the recipients of these awards are a source of inspiration to all.
''In honouring them, we reaffirm our nation's commitment to the value system enshrined in the Constitution,'' he said adding that the founding fathers of our republic were firm in their belief to promote communal harmony and amity among all sections of the population.
