Panaji, May 23 (UNI) The BJP has maintained it will not seek support from any other party in case it fails to get a majority on its own in the June 2 Goa elections.

''The question of seeking support does not arise as we are confident of getting absolute majority on our own,'' chief ministerial aspirant Manohar Parrikar told media persons here today.

He, however, added that the BJP could take support of independent candidate Nirmala Sawant, contesting against Transport Minister Pandurang Madkaikar from Cumbharjua, and Mathanhy Saldanha who is contesting as UGDP candidate from Cortalim.

The latter had stood by the BJP throughout the 2004-05 crisis despite being disqualified later by the Speaker for flouting the party whip and, so, the BJP will support Mr Saldanha, he said.

Mr Parrikar also refuted reports that the BJP had reached a secret understanding with Atanasio Monserrate and his wife Jennifer in Taleigao and Santa Cruz respectively, saying the party has nothing to do with them. The BJP, on the other hand, would order a probe into the acts of omission and commission by Mr Monserrate in the controversial Regional Plan-2011, as also against other ministers and Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane's son Viswajit, Mr Parrikar said.

''I do not want to dig the past, but I cannot tolerate those who tried to deface Goa,'' he added.
