Bihar gets 10 cr for preservation of monuments
Patna, May 23: In an effort to boost the age old cultural heritage of Bihar, the Centre has granted Rs ten crore to the state during the current fiscal for the proper maintenance of old buildings and monuments .
Official sources here today said though of a large number of historial buildings and monuments existed in different parts of the state, no care had so far been taken either by the state or the Centre because of lack of necessary funds.
However, following repeated requests by the state government to the Centre for allocation of necessary funds, the 12th Finance Commission had agreed to provide Rs ten crore in this regard.
Accordingly, about Rs 3.8 crores from the available funds would be spent for the preservation and upgradation of the Museum building in Munger, while about Rs one crore would be required for the renovation of the Archive building here.
Meanwhile, a spearate list of all major heritage buildings and monuments was being prepared by the state cultural department to find out the amount of fund required in this regard.
