New Delhi, May 23 (UNI) Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs P R Dasmunsi today asserted that tbe UPA Government would fulfil all the promises made in the National Common Minimum Programme much before the completion of its five-year tenure.

"This will be accomplished either by enacting legislations or making investments or by financial resolutions," he said talking to media-persons after releasing the UPA Government's Report Card on completion of its three years in power in 11 regional languages, including Urdu.

Mr Dasmunsi said the report card gave in great detail a true account of the achievements and the tasks accomplished by the UPA Government. "Let this transparency reach the nation through the media. The Press can highlight our acheivements too." The Government, he said, was laying great emphasis on agriculture now and had to this end increased the agriculture credit from Rs 1,90,000 crores in the last two years to Rs 2,25,000 crores this year. Investments on education and health care had been increased substantially.

Inspite of having achieved so much in the various sectors, much progress is yet to be made, he said, adding this would be done either by legislations or by investments.

Replying to a question on Union Panchayat Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar's comment that the Government's policy was pro-elite and was benefitting a particular class, Mr Dasmunsi said the amount of investments that the Government had made for the benefit of the poor had never been made before by any Government."Ultimately it is for the States to implement the Government's schemes,"he added.
