Advance payment for cloth purchase
Bhopal, May 23 (UNI) Pay in advance and get supply within six months. This remains the gist of store purchase rules for by all government departments, which were made binding to purchase cloth produced by weavers of Madhya Pradesh for ensuring continuous employment to the weavers and timely supply of cloth to the departments.
The state government has issued directives to all departments to strictly adhere to the store purchase rules and warned of strict action against those violating it, official sources said.
At a meeting on government cloth supply policy chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on March 8, it was decided that all departments would place the order for required cloth latest by May 31 and pay 85 percent of the amount as advance by June 30 while the supply would be made within six months of the advance payment.
Orders for supply of less than two metre may be given directly to the supply agency, the sources said.
For supply of Khadi cloth, woolen, cotton durries and cotton/woolen blanket, Madhya Pradesh Khadi and Gramodyog Board is the authorised agency, while for handloom cloth, State Handloom Weavers Cooperative Federation, Jabalpur and M P Handicrafts and Handloom Development Corporation are the authorised agencies.
Those clothes, which have been cut and stitched according to a prescribed design, will fall in the category of readymade garments, which will be supplied through State Handloom Weavers Federation, Handicrafts and Handloom Development Corporation and State Powerloom Weavers Cooperative Federation, Burhanpur.
During the previous Congress regime led by Mr Digvijay Singh, a controversy arose over changing the uniform for school students reportedly to benefit a particular textile firm.
