Youth Congress to organise 'human chain' tomorrow

Palakkad, May 22 (UNI) Kerala Pradesh Youth Congress President T Siddique today said a 'human chain' will be organised on the banks of Kunti river at Mannarkkad tomorrow in protest against the State Government's move to implement the Pathrakkadavu Hydel Project adjacent to the Silent Valley National Park.

Addressing a pressconference here he said social and cultural organisations would take part in the programme, to be inaugurated by Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly Oommen Chandy.

Mr Siddique alleged that a 'hydel power syndicate' under the leadership of CPI(M) State Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan, Industries Minister Elamaram Karim and Electricity Minister A K Balan were behind the project.

He said the project would adversely affect the availability of drinking water.
