WEP Peripherals launch high speed impact printer

Mysore, May 22 (UNI) WEP Peripherals, Mysore-based India's leading peripherals company today rolled out a high speed impact printer for business users from its facility here.

Capable of printing 1000 characters per second, best suited for multi user networked application necessities, printing more pages at lesser time, the printer was the first of its kind in the country. The unique feature of this product was its performance with highest uptime in its segment .

Speaking at the launch function S Nagarjuna, Senior General Manager, Operations and Exports, said ''we believe in constant expansion of our existing product portfolio by offering customised printing solutions to the consumers. WEPHQ2100 is fast, powerful, rugged and yet affordable. With serial and parallel interface with auto share, 1+8 multipart capability, this would establish its supermacy in the high speed impact market''.

Mr Nagarjuna said the global market of high speed impact printer was fast expanding with an estimated figure of around 40,000 printers per annum. Indian market size was currently ten per cent of the total figure, at around 4000 printers per annum, which alone was expected to go upto 5000. Considering the given global and Indian requirements, the exports scenario looks bright.

Talking to UNI later he said their total export was 60 per cent with the destinations including China, UK and Germany. Their main customer was China since last two years they have sent about 50,000 printers to them.

Two units of the company in Mysore and Nalagarh in Himachal Pradesh have a production capacity of 650,000 besides one million consumables a year. The last year turnover was Rs 80 million US dollars, he added.
