Webaroo launches free group SMS

New Delhi, May 22 (UNI) To encash on the burgeoning mobile phone subscriber base in the country, Webaroo, a web service provider on mobiles, today introduced a unique short messaging service product called SMS Gupshup, enabling mobile users to create groups and communicate free of cost.

''With number of mobile users increasing exponentially every year, we hope that the service will be successful. During test launching, Webaroo registered nearly 10,000 members within a month'' Webaroo Vice-President(India Operations) Chirag Jain told UNI.

The Gupshup service will help a mobile user to create or join a group, stay connected with friends, receive alerts, stay updated with news and current events.

Further using Gupshup a stockbroker can communicate with his clients, movie fans publish quotes and reviews, music lovers share trivia, colleges notify alumni of upcoming events free of cost.

While the mobile users can reap the benefits through free group messaging service, the advertisers even rejoice as Gupshup will provide a platform for them to advertise their wares.

''The whole idea is to post the right kind of advertisement to the prospecting customers. We will provide information as sought by the consumers and help them stay connected ,'' Mr Jain added.
