'UPA marked with monumental failures, let it go'
Panaji, May 22: Describing the three-year rule of UPA Government at the Centre as a ''monumental failure'', Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha L K Advani today sought its exit at the earliest.
''In view of its monumental failures, the sooner the UPA Government goes, the better it is for the nation,'' he said as Manmohan Singh government completes three years in office today.
''The Government and the Congress party will mark this event in predictably propagandistic manner. The propaganda, however, looks increasingly laboured, artificial and unenthusiastic. It can barely hide the growing discordant voices within the UPA,'' he told media persons.
Mr Advani kicked off the campaign for the BJP for the June 2 elections for the Goa Legislative Assembly last evening at Azad Maidan calling for formation of ''an honest and stable government'' in Goa with a convincing majority.
He had renewed his plea while winding up his campaign today, urging the electorate not to give a structured mandate.
Referring to the UPA regime, the senior BJP leader said he had seen the performance of every government at the Centre since independence, but not seen a government that is ''so utterly lacking in credibility, confidence and cohesion''.
For the first time in our Republican history, here is a government that is headed by a non-Prime Minister, run by a person who is not accountable to parliament and is surviving on life-support system provided by parties that behave more like the opposition, Mr Advani remarked.
