Uma desires that Mayawati be successful
Gwalior, MP, May 22 (UNI) Bharatiya Jan Shakti President Uma Bharti today said her desire was that newly-elected Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati emerges successful and that state scales new heights of development.
Ms Bharti, who was here to campaign for party candidate Narendra Birthare for forthcoming Shivpuri assembly by-election, told reporters here that Uttar Pradesh assembly elections was fought on local issues and had no national importance.
She pointed out that 20 newly-elected legislators from the BSP had criminal background and about half of them had been included in the ministry. Under such circumstances, it would be difficult to curb crimes.
However, it would be prudent to analyse her work only after six months.
Ms Bharti said she wished that Ms Mayawati emerged successful leader and Uttar Pradesh shed the tag of underdeveloped states and joined the category of developed states.
Replying to a question on what advise she would give to Ms Mayawati, the sadhvi said she could not provide advise to the BSP supremo, who was senior chief minister to her, as she got elected to the post for the fourth time.
