Tight security for 'tendupatta' in naxal affected areas
Mirzapur, May 22 (UNI) Tight security arrangements were initiated during the plucking of 'tendupatta', commonly used in making bidi, following illegal collection of money from Naxalites in the region here.
In the last few years, many incidents of unduly extraction of money by Naxalites came to light following which, police, PAC and Central paramilitary forces were deployed along with the forest officials in the area, S N Sawat Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Vindhyanchal range today said.
Labourers, contractors and accountants involved in the job would also be provided security.
However, in the past, maximum number of irregualarities were detected in the naxalite affected Kaimur and Vindhaya areas of Sonebhadra district, which also touches the borders of Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar.
