Ruling BJD leader acquitted in murder case

Sambalpur, May 22 (UNI) The Sambalpur District Sessions Judge today acquitted a senior ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Pramod Nath in a murder case.

According to the prosecution, Mr Nath and four others were chargesheeted in a murder case in 2001.

The prosecution, however, failed to establish the charges during the trial of the case.

The Judge, who found the accused persons not guilty of the offences under section 147, 148, and 302/149 of IPC, acquitted all the five.

Party sources said Mr Nath was not assigned any responsibility of the party activities in the district by party president Naveen Patnaik following the pending case against him during the last six years.
