North MP reels under intense heat

Bhopal, May 22 (UNI) Northern Madhya Pradesh braved intense heat wave conditions with 3-4 people dying in Sheopur district because of a sun-stroke in the past 3-4 days even as heat conditions in the state's western part was less severe.

A UNI report from Gwalior said, intense heat tormented people in northern Madhya Pradesh and streets bore a deserted look. Mercury was expected to rise further during 'Nautapa' starting from May 25.

The state capital witnessed a sunny sky but the severity of heat was less. A high of 39 degree Celsius was recorded, while minimum temperature was recorded at 27.2 deg C, two notches above normal.

A UNI report from Indore said, maximum temperature hovered around 40 deg C in Indore and nearby areas. People had respite with intensity of heat being less severe than past fortnight.

Regional meteorological department said light rainfall occurred in Jabalpur, Sagar and Gwalior divisions overnight. Khajuraho, Sheopurkala and Datia recorded a maximum temperature of 42 deg C.

Showers accompanied by lightning were predicted in Jabalpur, Rewa and Sagar divisions in the next 24 hours.
