Hyderabad, May 22 (UNI) Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS) Founder-President Manda Krishna Madiga today heeded the advice of the all-party delegation and withdrew his indefinite fast, demanding categorisation of the Scheduled Castes.

Mr Krishna Madiga, whose fast had entered the sixth day today, was demanding classification of the SCs into A, B, C and D categories and allotment of reservation -- both in educational institutions and employment -- to each category as per its population.

The all-party delegation, which visited his residence where he was holding fast, told Mr Krishna Madiga that it would leave for New Delhi tomorrow or the day after and request the National SC Commission to take a decision within a month. They also conveyed the message of Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy that he would urge the Centre to pass a Bill to facilitate categorisation during the monsoon session of Parliament so that students do not lose an academic year.

Mr Krishna Madiga said he would organise a public meeting on July 21 and urged the Chief Minister and leaders of all parties to attend the meeting.

Talking to newspersons after ending the fast, he said that though all the parties were supporting the cause of 'Madigas', their backwardness remained unchanged. Since he had faith in the Chief Minister and his promises, he was withdrawing his fast.

Mr Krishna Madiga had initially planned his indefinite fast outside the official residence of the Chief Minister. However, he was arrested while coming out of his office. He was later admitted to a hospital as he fainted.

He commenced his fast at his residence itself, following which Dr Reddy yesterday convened an all-party meeting.
