Man wanted in several cases held

Anand, May 22 (UNI) Anand local Crime Branch sleuths today claimed that they have arrested a man wanted in connection with vehicle theft, insurance fraud and kidnapping of a Vijaya Bank manager.

Ashwin J Patel, wanted in connection with vehicle theft, insurance fraud and kidnapping of Bank manager E Singuraj, was caught by the LCB sleuths last night. Later, he was taken away by the Vadodara police on a transfer warrant, police said today.

Police said the car, used to kidnap the bank manager, was stolen by him. The incident had occurred two years ago.

Singuraj was kidnapped by Shyamgiri Goswami, Nagin Patel and Manoj Kumar, who had asked Ashwin to bring a stolen car.

Accordingly, Ashwin had brought the Santro, police sources said.

Also, Matar police in Kheda district had registered a complaint against him for trying to defraud an insurance company. Ashwin had stolen a Fiat car and then set the car on fire and filed a claim for insurance.
