Major liquor haul in Anand

Anand, May 22 (UNI) In a major liquor haul, Anand rural police (anti-dacoity) squad and local Crime Branch sleuths seized Indian- made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 11 lakh from two places in the district today.

Thirty-one boxes of IMFL valued at Rs 78,000 and three vehicles, including a truck and two cars, were impounded from a field in Navali village. The total value of the seizure was Rs 11 lakh.

One person, identified as Gattusinh Rathod, a resident of Chduiwada village in Rajasthan was arrested while his accomplice managed to escape, Deputy Superintendent of Police S C Pathak said.

Another liquor haul of 90 boxes, comprising 1,388 bottles, of IMFL worth Rs 1.18 lakh was from Sudal village, 15 km from here, and one person, Jaimalsinh Udaisinh Raj, was arrested. The boxes were kept hidden at Kiran Poultry farm.

The notorious bootlegger Dilip Marwadi might have hidden the consignemnt at the farm, as the police had intensified searches for last couple of days, he added.
