Life sentence awarded for kidnapping and murder

Bhabhua, May 22 (UNI) A fast track court here today sentenced two people for life in connection with a case of kidnapping and murder besides slapping a fine of Rs 5,000 each.

Fast track court judge Jagweer Singh Katiyar found Ramanand Ram and Bigau Koiri, residents of Bhabhua and Rohtas districts respectively, guilty of kidnapping and killing Om Prakash Verma, who hails from Bajrangi village under Sheikhpura police station in Chandaoli district of Uttar Pradesh.

According to charges, Om Prakash was kidnapped along with his father Mohan Lal Verma and a relative, by the convicts on December 13, 1998.

Later Om Prakash was detained for ransom and his father and the relative were released.

Subsequently Om Prakash was killed by the convicts due to non fulfilment of demand of ransom.
