Law to make organisations pay for damage done to buses
Hyderabad, May 22 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to bring in a law, providing for an organisation, whose workers or activists damage State-owned buses, to pay the damages.
Talking to newspersons after a review meeting with top officials of APSRTC, Transport Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana said that during the past few days of the MRPS agitation, 111 buses were either damaged or burnt. ''It is very difficult for the organisation to overcome these kind of losses,'' he said.
He said it was unfortunate that such things should occur at a time when the State Government, with the cooperation of workers, was trying to reduce the losses of the organisation. Destruction of APSRTC's property was destruction of one's own property, he averred.
The Minister said legal experts opined that Central clearance was needed to bring in such a law and he had asked the officers to prepare a note in this regard.
