Law and order situation in Punjab serious: Rajnath Singh
New Delhi, May 22 (UNI) The BJP today said law and order situation in Punjab was ''serious'' following clashes between the Sikh community and Dera Sacha Sauda.
''The party has expressed its feeling and appealed to Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to make arrangements to restore peace and normalcy in the state,'' BJP president Rajnath Singh said.
He said he had telephonic conversation with Mr Badal twice after the sectarian clashes broke out.
Declining to say anything on the Presidential polls, Mr Singh said the NDA had authorised former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to consult the parties concerned and inform them about the NDA's candidate.
Mr Vajpayee will call a meeting of the NDA after he is through with the process, he added.
