International Coir Fair at Kochi from Dec. 7-11

Kochi, May 22 (UNI) The India International Coir Fair 2007 (IICF 2007) will be held here from December seven to eleven, the Coir Board announced today.

In a release here, the Board said the decision was taken at a meeting of the organising commitee of IICF 2007 here on May 19.

The meeting, presided over by Coir Board Chairman A C Jose, was attended by the representatives of various State Governments, presidents of export associations, Coir Board members and heads of state apex federations.

It was decided that the participation of 75-100 buyers of coir from traditional markets of European Union, the USA and niche markets in South America, North America and African countries, Australia, Middle East and China, would be assured at the fair.

It was proposed to organise the IICF 2007 with co-sponsorship of the union ministries of Agro and Rural Industries and Commerce and Industries and the State Governments.

An international seminar on coir, buyer-seller meets and an expo showcasing the capabilities of the Indian coir industry would form part of the mega event.

It was expected that around 100 manufacturers and exporters would put up stalls in the fair. An additional export business of Rs. 100 crore was expected in the wake of the IICF, the Board said.
