Mumbai, May 22 (UNI) 'Jodhaa Akbar', a 16th century love story between the great Mughal emperor Akbar and a Rajput princess Jodhaa starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai, was showcased at the 60th Cannes Film Festival in France.

Bollywood filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker's latest magnum opus film generated an overwhelming response among international buyers and media.

Gowariker made it to Variety's list of the 60 most important people to watch out at Cannes 2007, while Jodhaa Akbar's first visual was showcased to international buyers and media.

Ashutosh's wife Sunita, who is an Executive Producer and represented the Jodhaa Akbar team at the festival, has just returned from Cannes. She said the film's two minute promos, showcased for the first time, got an overwhelming response.

''The reactions were amazing. Buyers from Germany, France and South Africa were very excited. Representatives from Venice and Rome were very keen that 'Jodhaa Akbar' be showcased at their festivals,'' she said.

Hrithik and Aishwarya shared again the screen after the blockbuster 'Dhoom 2' late last year.

Produced by UTV and Ashutosh Gowariker Productions, 'Jodhaa Akbar' is slated for October release.
