Engineer arrested accepting bribe
Patna, May 22 (UNI) Sleuths of State Vigilance Bureau today arrested an assistant engineer of Bihar State Electricity Board for accepting bribe of Rs 28,000 for providing electricity connection to some flats of an apartment here.
According to police sources, a clerk was also arrested.
Additional Director General of Police, State Vigilance Bureau Neelmani said that trap was laid to arrest the engineer Purusottam Mishra following complaints lodged by the assistant manager Arvind Kumar of the construction company of the apartment.
In his complaint, Mr Kumar had informed that Mr Mishra was demanding Rs 5000 per flat of the apartment for providing electricity connections, he added.
''Engineer and the clerk Harshvardhan Upadhya were arrested while they were accepting the money from Mr Kumar,'' Mr Neelami informed.
Raids were being conducted at the residences of Mr Mishra and Mr Upadhya to detect the evidences of the illegal gratifications accepted in connection with other cases.
